On the afternoon of September 23, the Union of Friendship Organizations of Da Nang City and the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Association of the city jointly organized the “Friendship Exchange Program” to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany (September 23, 1975 – September 23, 2025).
In his welcoming remarks, President of the Vietnam-Germany Friendship Association of Da Nang City, Nguyen Huu Lai, emphasized that this is a profoundly meaningful occasion to reflect on the journey of building and strengthening the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. He affirmed the commitment to continue fostering and promoting the longstanding traditions in foreign affairs, trade, education, science, technology, and people-to-people exchange.
In recent years, the cooperative relationship between Da Nang and German localities, organizations, and enterprises has steadily expanded, improved in quality, and seen positive developments.
Currently, 28 German FDI projects are registered in Da Nang, with a total investment capital of approximately USD 671.4 million. German enterprises operate in various sectors, with the processing and manufacturing industries accounting for a significant share.
Each year, Da Nang welcomes numerous German business delegations seeking to explore the city’s investment environment.
In the first 8 months of 2025, the total number of German visitors to Da Nang reached more than 127,000, ranking in the top 15 tourist markets in Da Nang.
Many German non-governmental organizations such as Malteser International, German Association for the Relief of Leprosy and Tuberculosis (DAHW), German Red Cross, Herz Fur Herz (Heart for Heart), BORDA, FZS, German Caritas, have supported and contributed to the community in Da Nang in the fields of health, education, community health care, and support for poor women.
Speaking at the program, Andrea Maria Suhl, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City, remarked that the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany is not only a moment to reflect on the past, but also a starting point for a promising future. She noted that economic ties between the two countries have developed dynamically, with Germany now standing as one of Vietnam’s most important trading partners and a major investor.

Andrea Maria Suhl hopes that in the coming time, the two sides will work together to strengthen partnership for the benefit of both countries, and a peaceful and sustainable future.
At the event, on behalf of the leaders of the city People's Committee, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi presented a beautiful flower basket and best wishes to German friends.
A roundtable discussion was held with the theme "Vietnam-Germany: 50 years of friendly cooperation and new opportunities in people-to-people, economic and cultural exchange" with the participation of Andrea Maria Suhl, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Ngoc Binh, President of the Union of Friendship Organizations of Da Nang City and delegates.
The discussion focused on the role of people-to-people diplomacy in strengthening the relationship between the two countries, the potential to promote trade and investment cooperation between Da Nang and German partners, and local businesses’ experience in practical cooperation.
The event has affirmed that Da Nang is not only a dynamic and worth living city but also a reliable and suitable cooperation destination to expand the Vietnam-Germany friendship in the new period.
Through the event, the city hopes to promote its image, expand cooperation with German organizations, businesses and communities, and actively contribute to the 50-year friendship and the next stages.
