Enhancing Role of Kyushu-Vietnam Friendship Association in Strenghthen Relations

During the meeting, Consul General Trinh Thi Mai Phuong highly appreciated the role and positive contributions of the Kyushu-Vietnam Friendship Association in strengthening friendship, mutual understanding, and promoting cooperation between the Kyushu region and Vietnam in the fields of economics, culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges.

She expressed her gratitude for the attention, support, and cooperation of the Association's President, Hoshino Hiroshi, and its members towards the Consulate General and the Vietnamese community in Kyushu. She said that the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka considers the Association a crucial, reliable, and long-term partner in implementing diplomatic activities in the area.

Hoshino Hiroshi and members of the Association presented an overview of the Association's formation, operational goals, and outstanding achievements. They also discussed rooms for potential future cooperation.

Both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation on several key areas, including supporting the Vietnamese community in Kyushu, supporting connections and promoting cooperation in science and technology, semiconductors, and high-tech industries, and continuing to coordinate people-to-people exchanges, and cooperation between partners from both sides.

They also agreed to promote connections between localities of the two countries. Besides existing cooperative relationships between the Kyushu region and Vietnamese localities, Consul General Trinh Thi Mai Phuong suggested that the Association continue to support the expansion of locality twinning, particularly among areas with similar conditions, strong potential for collaboration, and complementary strengths.

She suggested promoting cooperation in high-quality human resources training to better meet the development needs of the Kyushu region in the new period. Accordingly, cooperation should expand beyond supplying general labor but also on training Vietnamese personnel with the qualifications, skills, and professional expertise tailored to Kyushu’s specific requirements, especially in high-tech industries, advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, research, innovation, and other knowledge-intensive sectors.

The two sides also discussed plans for the 20th anniversary celebration of the Kyushu-Vietnam Friendship Association in 2028, recognizing it as a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the Association’s formation and achievements.

The meeting was conducted in a sincere, constructive, and mutually respectful atmosphere. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close cooperation and enhancing the Association’s role as a bridge between Kyushu and Vietnam. They expressed confidence that these efforts will further deepen, broaden, and make more practical the overall Vietnam-Japan partnership, particularly in fostering regional collaboration between Kyushu and Vietnam.
