GNI Contributes to Spreading the Joy of Reading to Students

From April 18 to 21, nearly 5,000 students and teachers from 13 schools across Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang, and Ha Giang provinces took part in a series of Book Festivals organized by Good Neighbors International (GNI). The events aimed to promote a culture of reading and respond to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21).

In Tan Lac District (Hoa Binh Province), the festival, themed "Read Today, Lead Tomorrow," featured vibrant activities such as themed book displays, creative reinterpretations of literary works, and open reading spaces.

In Son Duong District (Tuyen Quang Province), a festival under the theme "Together with Books, Entering the Nation’s Era of Rise" took place on April 19, 2025, at Dong Quy Primary School. The event drew enthusiastic participation from students, who explored illustrated depictions of classic Vietnamese literature and historical figures from the “Brilliant Vietnam” art contest. They also shared their own original stories and poems through the “Magical Pages” competition and enjoyed a designated free reading zone.

Meanwhile, in Quang Binh District (Ha Giang Province), GNI hosted a Reading Culture Festival on April 21, 2025, combined with a career orientation and future planning program. Nearly 2,400 students participated in this dual-purpose event, which not only provided vocational guidance but also sparked a love for reading and self-directed learning—fostering a positive, holistic, and sustainable learning environment.

On the same day, in Hoa Binh City, GNI collaborated with local schools to hold book festivals at Yen Mong Primary & Secondary School and Thai Thinh Primary & Secondary School. Located on the city’s outskirts, these schools often lack access to creative extracurricular activities. The festival became a stimulating intellectual playground, giving students direct engagement with books while helping them develop soft skills such as communication and critical thinking.

“After attending the book festival, I felt like I had entered a whole new world, where each page opened up new horizons of knowledge and emotion. I’ll spend more time reading and sharing what I learn with my friends,” shared Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, an 8th grader at Yen Mong Primary & Secondary School in Hoa Binh City.

These festivals have helped spread reading culture throughout schools and reflect GNI’s ongoing commitment to building a positive educational environment. Through creative engagement, GNI aims to inspire a love for books, foster reading habits, and encourage students to take initiative in their learning journey—contributing to personal growth and community development.
