In his opening remarks, Minister of State Charlie McConalogue emphasized that Ireland-Vietnam relations are developing positively, particularly in education, scientific research, and trade. Ireland will continue to promote cooperation between educational institutions of the two countries, maintain postgraduate scholarships for Vietnamese students, and expand collaboration in potential areas such as technology, renewable energy, the food industry, and aviation.
Acting Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son affirmed that Saint Patrick’s Day is not only an important holiday of Ireland but also a meaningful occasion as the two countries celebrate 30 years of diplomatic relations. Despite geographical distance, Vietnam and Ireland have built a sincere, strong, and continuously developing friendship.

Accordingly, bilateral relations have achieved many positive outcomes in recent years, especially following the state visit to Ireland in 2024 by General Secretary To Lam. Shortly thereafter, Vietnam opened its embassy in Ireland in 2025, laying a foundation for stronger momentum toward more comprehensive bilateral cooperation.
Accordingly, educational cooperation continues to be a highlight in the relationship, with numerous joint training programs, research initiatives, and academic exchanges being effectively implemented. Ireland has also supported Vietnam through scholarship programs and projects aimed at improving the quality of higher education, contributing to the development of high-quality human resources, and promoting international integration.
