Kicking off the event series is the 2026 paragliding tourism program “Flying over the Water-Pouring Season,” taking place from April 29 to May 5 in Lim Thai village, Tu Le commune. This is considered one of the most attractive activities of this year’s tourism season, drawing large numbers of visitors who enjoy exploration and adventure.
Visitors will not only witness impressive performances by professional pilots but also have the opportunity to experience paragliding themselves, taking in panoramic views of the valley from above. During the water-pouring season, the terraced rice fields in Tu Le shimmer under the sunlight, reflecting the sky and creating a landscape that is both majestic and poetic. From the air, the winding terraces appear vividly, offering a feeling that is both breathtaking and peaceful.
Beyond flying activities, the program also features various cultural and tourism experiences such as check-ins at terraced fields, exploring the daily life of Thai and Mong ethnic communities, tasting local specialties, and immersing in the festive atmosphere of the highlands. These activities help promote Tu Le as a destination known for its pristine beauty and unique cultural identity to both domestic and international visitors.

At the same time, the “Echoes of Thac Ba Lake” Festival 2026 will take place in Yen Binh commune with a rich lineup of activities running from late April to early May.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. on April 30 at the Ruby eco-tourism site in Hamlet 13, Yen Binh commune. The program will be held in a formal setting combined with impressive jet ski performances, creating an exciting highlight from the outset. In addition, an expanded traditional basket boat racing competition on Thac Ba Lake will gather teams from various localities, bringing a vibrant competitive atmosphere on the water.
Alongside water sports, an exhibition space showcasing OCOP products, local specialties, and key products will be held from April 29 to May 3. This provides an opportunity to promote products, connect supply and demand, and attract investment, contributing to local economic development.

Notably, various tours exploring the scenic Thac Ba Lake area will be organized from April 20 through the holiday period and continue throughout 2026. Destinations such as Thac Ba Hydropower Plant, Thuy Tien Cave, Thac Ba Temple, as well as traditional craft villages and community-based tourism sites, promise diverse experiences combining nature exploration with local cultural discovery.
The harmonious combination of adventure experiences like paragliding in Tu Le and cultural-sports events at Thac Ba Lake is gradually affirming the appeal of the Northwest region on the tourism map.
As demand for experiential travel continues to rise, diversifying tourism products, offering fresh experiences, and improving service quality will be key for Lao Cai to continue attracting visitors, especially during peak periods such as the April 30-May 1 holiday.
