Tran Duc Tua, chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Kharkov and Doan Van Thinh, chairman of the Vietnam Business Association in Kharkov presented VND 100 million (about US$ 4300).

Ngo Huong Nam, vice chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs said that it appreciated affection of overseas Vietnamese in Ukraine for domestic compatriots.

Nam also sympathized with overseas Vietnamese who have suffered difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, hoping they would soon stabilize their lives.

The Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, World Trade Organization (WTO) and other international organizations in Geneva have appealed for the Vietnamese community in Geneva and surrounding areas to contribute to Vietnam’s Covid-19 prevention and control fund.

The fundraising ceremony was held at the mission's headquarters on June 28.

Ambassador Le Thi Tuyet Mai, head of the Vietnamese mission, emphasized the country’s efforts, measures as well as difficulties in preventing and controlling the Covid-19 pandemic over the past time.

Mai said that the government’s priority was to protect the health of the people and mobilize all social resources to implement mass immunization.

Staff at the Vietnamese mission in Geneva donated at least a day’s salary to the Covid-19 prevention and control fund, according to Vietnamplus.

She also highlighted the policies and efforts of the State, Government and people of Vietnam in the Covid-19 prevention and control, its contribution to the international cooperation and support for many countries with face masks and medical equipment.

Mai hailed the practical contributions by the mission’s staff to the Covid-19 battle in Vietnam while protecting themselves from the disease to fulfill their tasks.

In a spirit of solidarity and mutual affection, last year, the Vietnamese community in Geneva and surrounding areas supported flood-stricken people in the central region VND 64 million (nearly US$ 2.800).

Vietnamese expats in Switzerland mainly live in Berns, Zurich, Geneva, Laussane, and Neuchâtel.

The Vietnamese Cultural Association in Mainz and surrounding areas, led by Tran Xuan Hieu, its Chairman, on June 28 went to the Consulate General of Vietnam in Frankfurt, Germany to hand over EUR 2.000 (US$ 2.380) to support Vietnam’s Covid-19 vaccine fund.

Hieu said that although the donation was not large, it was affection of members towards the home country.

Consul General Le Quang Long thanked Vietnamese expats in Germany in general and the Vietnamese Cultural Association in Mainz and surrounding areas in particular for their assistance, adding that the aid was a great source of encouragement for the country to soon win over the pandemic, TG&VN reported.

Long said that the Vietnamese Cultural Association in Mainz and surrounding areas was the first Vietnamese association in the southwestern region of Germany to respond to the call of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to contribute to the country’s Covid-19 vaccine fund.

The consulate general has collected EUR 1.170 from Vietnamese expats in the southwestern region of Germany, he added.

Earlier, each staff of the consulate general donated at least a day’s salary. All donations collected by the consulate general will be publicly informed and sent to the country as soon as possible.
