While the Covid-19 pandemic has been affecting the socio-economy of the Czech Republic, the Vietnamese community in the country has implemented many activities to assist local authorities and people fighting against the pandemic. Their efforts have been recognized and appreciated by Czech leaders and people.

The role of the Vietnamese community during the Covid-19 pandemic is quite positive, as many Vietnamese businesses maintain Czech’s socio-economic development.

Speaking at the customer appreciation event of TAMDA Group, a Vietnamese food trading business, at the TAMDA Shopping Center in the northern city of Ústí nad Labem, Mayor of the city Petr Nedvedicky expressed his joy toward the development of Vietnamese businesses at the locality. He also praised the contribution of Vietnamese businesses to the socio-economic development of the city.

“Two years ago, I attended the launching ceremony of the TAMDA Shopping Center. I appreciate your success in becoming a trusted shopping destination for local people. I hope you will continue to develop and work alongside the city,” Nedvedicky said.

Le Minh Cau, Director of the TAMDA Shopping Center under the TAMDA Group, said the center has been maintaining stable jobs and incomes for roughly 100 Vietnamese and many other Czech workers. The center also accepted Vietnamese who had lost their jobs in factories.

Most customers coming to the TAMDA Shopping Center in Ústí nad Labem are Czech, who are fond of Vietnamese food products.

Pham Thi Quyen, an employee at the center, said “I feel at ease working here because the environment is good. During Covid, the company ensures the employees enjoy stable jobs and incomes and maintains customer services. While working, we constantly remind our customers to comply with Covid prevention measures to avoid spreading the virus to the community.”

Ambassador of Vietnam to the Czech Republic Thai Xuan Dung expressed his joy toward the Vietnamese community’s increasing integration into Czech society. The development of Vietnamese businesses in the country, particularly TAMDA Group, has been practically contributing to the socio-economic development of the Czech Republic and creating jobs for Vietnamese and local people alike.

In addition, the Vietnamese businesses in the Czech Republic have been implementing charity plans to support the government and people of Czech to fight against the pandemic and overcome the aftermath of the historic storm in south Morava in June 2021. They also donated to assist people in central Vietnam in surmounting the consequences of the natural disasters in late 2020 and to Vietnam’s Covid vaccine fund.

The Ambassador of Vietnam to the Czech Republic and local authorities hoped that Vietnamese businesses would continue to be a bridge between and a trusted partner for businesses in both countries in trade, export-import and distribution of Vietnamese products not only in the Czech Republic but also in Europe as the EU–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement has come into effect.
