	Vietnam-China Friendship: Affection Spanning Two Centuries

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations, Chairman of the Vietnam-Indonesia Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City Mai Ba Hung congratulated Acting Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City Adiguna Wijaya and Indonesian people on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Republic of Indonesia.

Mai Ba Hung affirmed that Vietnam and Indonesia are two neighboring countries in Southeast Asia with many historical similarities and struggle against colonial imperialism.

On March 10, 2025, Vietnam and Indonesia upgraded the bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which led Vietnam to become Indonesia's first Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in ASEAN. This is a milestone as Vietnam-Indonesia relations into a new era of deep, comprehensive cooperation for the interests and peace of the two peoples, as well as of ASEAN.

In ASEAN, Indonesia is Vietnam's second-largest trading partner, while Vietnam is Indonesia's fourth-largest trading partner. In the first 2 months of 2025, bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and Indonesia reached US $2.65 billion.

In recent years, there have been many Vietnamese investors in Indonesia. Moreover, the Government of Vietnam has launched a strategy to develop the Halal industry to further increase exports to Islamic markets and encourage Indonesian business investment promotion in Vietnam. The two countries have set a bilateral trade target of US $18 billion by 2028.

President of the Vietnam-Indonesia Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City Mai Ba Hung appreciated that the Indonesian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City has been actively participating in and organizing many practical activities to strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, promoting cultural and people-to-people connections, as well as Vietnam–Indonesia economic and investment exchanges.

In response, the Acting Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Ho Chi Minh City Adiguna Wijaya reviewed the milestones in Indonesia-Vietnam relations.

Accordingly, since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1955, the two countries have worked together to achieve common goals in all aspects of international relations. Indonesia and Vietnam are good neighbors, close friends, and reliable partners, not only in joint efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation, but also in strengthening relations and cooperation among ASEAN member countries.

The Acting Consul General of Indonesia said that the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries creates a solid foundation for the further expansion of bilateral cooperation in new fields, for the benefit of the two peoples and the sustainable future of both countries.
