Support for RoK NGOs in Vietnam Continues to be Ensured

On June 17 in Hanoi, President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations Phan Anh Son received and worked with Country Director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) in Vietnam Lee Byung Hwa. The two agreed to coordinate to create favorable conditions for non-governmental organizations from the Republic of Korea (RoK) in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Phan Anh Son congratulated the people of RoK on the successful presidential election. He said: RoK and Vietnam have similarities in history and culture. Vietnam can learn from RoK's experience in the economic development model to promote growth.

Phan Anh Son thanked KOICA for supporting the implementation of activities of RoK's non-governmental organizations in Vietnam. The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations is committed to actively coordinating with KOICA in upcoming activities, and is ready to connect KOICA with partners and localities in Vietnam. The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations hopes that KOICA will continue to exchange information and proactively propose to improve the effectiveness of cooperation between the two sides.

KOICA Country Director in Vietnam, Lee Byung Hwa, noted that the KOICA Vietnam office has been operating for over 30 years. To date, it has supported the implementation of more than 400 projects by RoK's NGOs across Vietnam, including 10 currently underway in 2025. The projects focus on areas of interest to Vietnam, such as education, healthcare, public administration, agriculture, and environment.

Lee Byung Hwa highly appreciated the participation of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the People's Aid Coordinating Committee (under the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations) in the recent KOICA's activities. He expressed his hope that the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the People's Aid Coordinating Committee will continue to pay attention and coordinate with KOICA to support the activities of RoK's NGOs and connect NGOs of both countries.
