UN Exhibition Highlights Vietnam’s Cultural Heritage and Human Rights Progress

A photo exhibition titled “Vietnam - Identity, Humanity and Integration” is taking place from June 30 to July 9, 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland. The exhibition aims to promote the image of Vietnam's culture and people while underscoring the country's commitment to the protection and promotion of human rights.

The event is jointly organized by the Standing Office on Human Rights, the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, and the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG).

The opening ceremony drew representatives from the UN Office in Geneva, delegates from various UN Treaty Bodies, over 20 ambassadors and heads of delegations from Human Rights Council member states, as well as more than 40 delegates attending the Council’s 59th session.

Delivering a speech at the event, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Vietnam in Geneva Mai Phan Dung said: "Each photograph is an authentic snapshot, a story told about a Vietnam in the development process, is yet steadfastly preserving its unique cultural identity, fostering a spirit of humanity in all aspects of life, and actively, proactively integrating deeply into the global current. Moreover, the vibrant snapshots of traditional ceremonies, festivals, religious rituals, and daily life depict the resilience of all ethnicities and their commitments to cultural practices that have withstood the test of time".

The exhibition presents a vibrant collection of artistic photographs that guide viewers through Vietnam’s rich cultural and natural heritage, from the majestic landscape of Ha Long Bay and the terraced fields of the Northwest to UNESCO-recognized sites such as Hoi An Ancient Town and the Cham Towers. These images showcase the harmony of tradition and modernity, as well as the cultural diversity of Vietnam’s 54 ethnic groups, expressed through traditional attire, daily life, and colorful festivals.

Beyond cultural aesthetics, the exhibition emphasizes Vietnam’s efforts to protect fundamental human rights. Images of religious festivals and spiritual practices highlight the country’s protection of freedom of religion and belief. Other photographs illustrate Vietnam’s notable achievements in education, healthcare, and social equality.

"As a member of this esteemed Human Rights Council, Vietnam remains steadfast in its dedication to promoting a holistic approach to human rights, one that recognizes the intrinsic connection between cultural diversity, environmental sustainability, and the well-being of vulnerable groups and communities", said Ambassador Mai Phan Dung.

Through this photographic journey, viewers gain a comprehensive understanding of Vietnam’s pursuit of a just, democratic, and civilized society, aligned with the UN' Sustainable Development Goals. These ongoing efforts contribute meaningfully to global peace, prosperity, and the protection of human rights.

Notably, the event is viewed as a positive element in Vietnam’s ongoing campaign to secure a seat on the UN Human Rights Council for the 2026-2028 term.
