The move aims to enable VASCO, an affiliate of the national flag carrier, to become an important air transport operator in the Mekong River Delta.
Furthermore, Vietnam Airlines will conduct studies to transfer additional flight routes to VASCO in the future, with the aim to develop VASCO's scale of business and exploitation capacity, and also to better meet the travel demands of passengers.
According to the plan, VASCO will operate seven flights per week for each route between HCM City and Rach Gia, and Phu Quoc-Can Tho, and two weekly flights between Phu Quoc and Rach Gia. It will use the 65-seat ATR-72 airplanes.
For the HCM city-Phu Quoc route, Vietnam Airlines will run 21 flights per week, while VASCO operates 7 flights per week./.
