The Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee on Aug. 13 just received USD 50,000 from the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association through the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association to support the Vietnamese people's fight against Covid-19.

Present at the event were Nguyen Phuong Nga, president of Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) and Trinh Vinh Pha, vice Chairman of Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Association.

On the Cambodian side, there was Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Vietnam Chay Navuth.

Speaking at the reception, Pha said that over the years, Vietnam and Cambodia have closely cooperated in preventing the spread of the pandemic. In particular, the Vietnam-Cambodia and the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Associations regularly donate medical supplies to support the people of the two countries in the prevention of the Covid-19, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the two neighboring countries, especially in this difficult times.

After Vietnam faced the fourth wave of Covid-19, the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia on July 19 received a sum of USD 50,000 from the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association handed over by Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Chairwoman of the Cambodia–Vietnam Friendship Association Men Sam An.

The Vietnamese Embassy immediately transferred the above amount to the Covid-19 Disease Prevention Fund of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at the request of the VUFO and the friendship association to provide timely support to local people who are heavily affected by the pandemic, contributing to the government's effort to repel the deadly virus.

Vice President, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Le Tien Chau thanked the friendship association for their valuable support both materially and spiritually for Vietnamese people, expressing the solidarity, friendship, attachment and mutual assistance of the Cambodian people towards the Vietnamese people.

He affirmed that the sum will be promptly disbursed to the Covid-19 vaccine fund and for the purchase of ventilators and other medical devices, as well as used to support concentrated quarantine establishments, frontline workers and the disadvantaged due to isolation and social distancing.

The delegates believed that with the drastic and effective measures of the governments, the consensus and support of the whole people and the cooperation and assistance of international friends, the Vietnamese people as well as the Cambodian people will soon prevent the ongoing pandemic, restore and develop socio-economic in the coming time.

Chau also presented a letter of thanks to the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association through ambassador Chay Navuth.
