Vietnamese-born MasterChef establishes "Xin Chao" restaurant in US
Xin Chao - the second restaurant of Vietnamese-American chef Christine Ha - US MasterChef season 3 champion was opened last month in Houston, USA. This is a project in conjunction with another famous Vietnamese counterpart.

After the success of The Blind Goat restaurant, Vietnamese American chef Christine Ha decided to open another restaurant called "Xin chao" in Houston, USA. In this new project, she collaborates with Tony J. Nguyen, a Vietnamese-born chef who is famous for his Saigon House restaurant.
Both chefs are the second generation of Vietnamese living in the US. Tony and Christine both pursued the vision of honoring and elevating their homeland dishes, which results in their decision of cooperating to open Xin chao Restaurant.
To create a unique menu of Xin chao, two chefs selected the most impressive flavors of the traditional dishes of Vietnamese families to create new recipes with professional cooking techniques, which helps create a unique mix of traditional and modern styles. In addition to the spring roll dish inspired by a traditional Vietnamese family recipe, Xin chao also serves lemongrass fried chicken, smoked beef ribs ... and creative cocktails.

Christine Ha shared that, in order to open the restaurant at this time, all the staff of Xin Chao worked very hard to ensure the Covid-19 epidemic safety. The restaurant prepares hand sanitizer, distanced seating arrangement as well as adjusting the menu to suit the current situation.
Christine Ha is a Vietnamese American chef, writer, and TV host. She is the first blind contestant of MasterChef and the winner of its third season in 2012. Her parents were of Vietnamese origin; they immigrated from Saigon to the United States in 1975. Ha became famous after winning US MasterChef and appeared in the Vietnamese version of the show. She also owns a Vietnamese gastropub in Hoston, US, which serves authentic Vietnamese dishes, specifically drawing inspiration from "Vietnamese drinking cuisine".

Amid the nationwide celebrations welcoming the Year of the Horse (Binh Ngo) Spring 2026 and marking the successful conclusion of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnamese communities in many countries, including Malaysia, Laos, China, and New Zealand, have organized Homeland Spring and Vietnamese Tet programs featuring a wide range of culturally rich activities. These events have contributed to strengthening bonds within overseas Vietnamese communities, spreading sentiments toward the Homeland, and enhancing people-to-people exchanges.
From February 5-6, an estimated 1,000 overseas Vietnamese delegates are expected to take part in a meaningful series of connectivity programs on the occasion of Tet and the arrival of Spring in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC).

As the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam soon approaches, Vietnamese representative agencies abroad have taken a proactive stance, via a diverse array of initiatives, including seminars, press briefings, and high-level exchanges with political parties and international researchers, to inform the strategic significance and far-reaching scope of the Congress to the global community.
Lawyer Tran Ba Phuc, Vice Chairman of the Association of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Abroad, and Venerable Thich Minh Quang, Head of the Coordinating Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Laos, both expressed their confidence in the Party’s leadership in the country’s new development phase. Affirming the role of the private sector and placing innovation at the heart of the development strategy demonstrates the Party’s strong reform-oriented thinking, opening up significant space for the overseas Vietnamese business and intellectual community to accompany and contribute to sustainable growth and the enhancement of the Vietnamese economy’s competitiveness in the new period.
On January 11 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Public Security held a meeting with Heads of Vietnam’s overseas representative missions appointed in 2025. At the meeting, General Luong Tam Quang, Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security, emphasized the bridge-building role of Vietnam’s overseas representative missions in strengthening coordination between security and foreign affairs, with a view to ensuring national security, safety, and interests in the new situation.
