On June 2, an online business connection program between Central Group and Vietnamese businesses in the fields of food and building materials and furniture was held.

As an activity in the series of events to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand, implemented by the Vietnam Trade Office in Thailand in coordination with relevant agencies, the Vietnam-Thailand Trade Program 2021 is organized to promote products and help Vietnamese businesses access the Thai market.

This event is also an important opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to directly meet and discuss with Central Group's purchasing units and Thai importers in the complex context of the Covid-19 pandemic in both countries.

With the support of units, this year's trade program has attracted more than 100 Vietnamese businesses interested and registered to participate.

Speaking at the opening session of the event, Vietnamese Trade Counselor in Thailand Tran Thi Thanh My said that this is the 5th time the program has been organized with the aim of supporting Vietnamese products and businesses to access exporters to bring goods to the Thai market through Central Group's distribution system.

Representative of the Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade), Bui Quang Hung, said that over the years, this agency has regularly coordinated with international organizations to carry out trade promotion tasks between Vietnamese enterprises and foreign importers, including the Thai market.

The Department also highly appreciates Central Group's efforts in coordinating with Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade to support businesses to access and be present in the Thai market through the group's distribution system over the past time.

This activity is even more meaningful in the context that the Covid-19 pandemic has been having a profound effect on global trade.

On the Central Group's side, Emmanuel Francois Patrick Couronne, director of Retail Procurement, hopes that business networking sessions like this will help introduce the group to reputable businesses to bring Vietnamese products to Thai consumers.

Organized for the first time in 2016, up to now, the trade program has made its mark as an effective bridge, becoming a market access channel for Vietnamese goods to be exported to the distribution system of Central Group. It opens up many business potentials for Vietnamese enterprises in the Thai market.

Many Vietnamese agricultural products such as lychee, dragon fruit, coffee, cashew nuts, and dried fruits have been successfully exported to Thailand and conquered local consumers.

In the coming time, a program to promote Vietnamese food and goods called "Taste of Vietnam" is expected to be held in Udon Thani province in the Northeastern region of Thailand in the days from June 24 to June 26.

This is one of the initiatives implemented since 2016 with close cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam and Central Group on the basis of the project "Promoting Vietnamese enterprises to directly participate in foreign distribution networks, period to 2020" of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The main purpose of the program is to promote products as well as create opportunities for Vietnamese suppliers to export goods to the Thai market.
