Continuing to join hands with the Vietnam's Government, communities and local partners in the COVID-19 pandemic response and recovery, from December 14 to 18, World Vision Vietnam has distributed 248 water tanks, 500 cans of cooking oil for more than 700 households with vulnerable/malnourished children under 5 in four project communes (Pu Nhung, Rang Dong, Phinh Sang and Ta Ma) in Tuan Giao District, Dien Bien Province.

Together with the distribution, Tuan Giao District Medical Center also guided people on how to use water tanks properly and effectively, contributing to the prevention of the pandemic. After the communication session, 248 households signed a pledge to build toilets and hand washing areas with clean water by January 31, 2021.

In Tua Chua District of Dien Bien, USD 74,348 funded by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to reduce COVID-19 impact has been utilized to provide prompt support to families whose livelihoods are severely affected.

As the result, 336 families received food aid packages of rice, cooking oil, soup powder, and drinking milk; 40 seriously malnourished children received a total of 9,559 fortified food products (Hebi) developed by the National Institute of Nutrition.

In addition, 40 families received breeding cows together with animal feed and vaccines, 326 families received vegetable seeds and 120 families received 1,000-liter water tanks to better store water at home for daily usage.

World Vision is a Christian relief and development humanitarian organization, working to improve the quality of life of people, especially children, who are marginalized and living in poverty. World Vision helps all who are in need regardless of their religion, race, ethnicity, or gender.

The organization started working in Vietnam in 1988. Since then, World Vision has implemented many relief and development programs, partnering with the Vietnamese government, other NGOs, and communities. World Vision's long-term development programs are currently operated in 18 cities and provinces throughout Vietnam.

Last week, together with 49 other international organizations, World Vision Vietnam was honored to receive certificates of merit in recognition of the organization's contributions from the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO)./.
