Juan Bosch was a pioneer in the movement against the oppression of dictator governments for national liberation in Latin America since the 1930s. He was the founder of the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), the political organization at the forefront of the struggle against the dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo.

President Ho Chi Minh and Professor Juan Bosch sowed the seeds of the relationship of solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and the Dominican Republic. The Dominican leader met Uncle Ho in 1965, when he traveled to Hanoi to attend the Conference of Latin American countries in solidarity with Vietnam. The two countries established diplomatic relations on July 7, 2005.

The ambassador specified that Professor Juan Bosch fully supported and believed in President Ho Chi Minh's leadership in Vietnam's struggle for liberation and national reunification, reported from VNA.

He revealed that in honor of the Vietnamese leader, in February 2013 the monument to President Ho Chi Minh was inaugurated in the capital Santo Domingo.

Despite the geographical distances, Vietnam and the Dominican Republic have always been closely linked due to their similar aspirations for freedom and social progress, he pointed out.

On the special occasion, Francisco Rodríguez expressed his honor at being appointed as the first ambassador of the Caribbean nation in Vietnam, and said that he is preparing for the inauguration of the Embassy of his country in Hanoi, an event that will mark an important milestone in bilateral relations. .

He also wishes to promote cooperation between the two countries in many fields, such as diplomacy, trade, science, sports and culture.

According to the ambassador, the Dominican Republic has the fastest economic growth in Central America-Caribbean, and is among the high-growth countries in Latin America, like Vietnam, which is experiencing outstanding development in the Southeast Asian region.

Hence, he suggested promoting investment exchanges between the two countries in the areas of tourism, telecommunications and agriculture.

Responded to the recent reopening of international tourism in Vietnam, he shared that the Latin American nation also opened its borders and relaxed the preventive measures of the Covid-19 pandemic, without any type of restriction on the entry of foreign visitors.

He anticipated that this great step in Vietnam will reap very positive results and will act as a catalyst for the nation's economy.
