The teams excavated more than 300 cubic meters of soil and continued expanding the search area in Area B. To support excavation and soil transportation and ensure that the mission remained on schedule, the city’s High Command deployed three excavators, one dump truck and two 3.5-ton trucks. The vehicles were used to excavate and transport soil, enabling the teams to continue examining areas where martyrs’ remains might still be present.

As a result, the teams recovered eight additional sets of martyrs’ remains, along with three sets of associated personal effects, in Area B. This brought the total number of sets of remains recovered at Le Thi Rieng Park from June 23 through October 15 to 739.

The search and recovery operation at Le Thi Rieng Park has been conducted in two phases. During the first phase, the teams recovered 731 sets of martyrs’ remains. On October 14, the city held a memorial service and burial ceremony for the remains at Ho Chi Minh City Martyrs’ Cemetery.

Following the ceremony, the teams continued with the second phase, expanding the search area in Area B and discovering eight additional sets of martyrs’ remains on October 15.

Of the 739 sets of remains recovered by the end of October 15, 706 were recovered individually, while 33 were found at eight mass grave sites, including two in Area A and six in Area B. These results reflect a search and recovery process carried out in multiple stages, progressing from Area A to Area B, with the search area continuing to expand.

The continuation of search operations in Area B following the completion of the memorial service and burial of the 731 sets of remains recovered during the first phase demonstrates the determination of the forces involved in fulfilling their mission. Alongside the deployment of mechanical equipment for excavation and soil transportation, the teams have continued to examine and expand the search area.

The search and recovery of martyrs’ remains at Le Thi Rieng Park carries profound significance in upholding the principle of gratitude and paying tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the cause of national liberation, the construction of the country and the defense of the Fatherland.
