Huu Lien Commune has a total area of over 6,000 hectares and a population of more than 3,000 people, including the Tay, Nung, Yao, and H'mong ethnic minorities.

The destination has engrossed tourists by its magnificent karst mountain ranges, boundless lush grasslands, mossy waterfalls, and meandering sapphire streams.

The commune offers interesting ecotourism options in villages like Lang Ben, Lang Coc, and La Ba. The most preferred kind of accommodation here is the homestay with the price of VND100,000 ($4.3) a person per night, according to VNExpress.

Tourists will also have the chance to sample local specialties, campfires, herbal baths, and traditional dancing performances.

Dong Lam Meadow is only 2 km from the homestays in Lang Ben Village. It stretches about 1.5 km, embellished by trails and blue cool streams that flow from limestone mountain chains. In the watery season, the locals flock here to fish.

From the end part of Dong Lam Lake, it would take one hour to traverse primeval forests to reach Lan Dat village where includes about 26 Yao households. The village is fully enveloped by thick forests, so its untouched beauty remains intact. There is no wifi and no electricity here.

In summer, the meadow is perfectly suitable for going picnics and trekking. Nevertheless, in the rainy season, from July to October, it is overwhelmed with the depth of 2-3 m. This is the reason why the grassland is not used for cultivation.

To boost tourism, the local authorities have built a parking lot, about 1 km from the entrance to Dong Lam. Besides, travelers can rent a motorbike taxi to the meadow for VND30,000-40,000 ($1.3-1.7) or even walk or cycle to thoroughly enjoy its ravishing beauty, added VNExpress.

Huu Lien special-use forest covers a total area of ​​8,293.4 hectares, belongs to Huu Lien National Forest Reserve, with three subdivisions stretching over three districts: Huu Lung, Chi Lang, and Van Quan.

The topography of this forest area is formed like a basin, surrounded by overlapping majestic limestone mountains; its center embraces hills, villages, grasslands, and agricultural production areas. Every year, there are numerous domestic and foreign tourists contacting the forest management board for permission to explore the area.

Huu Lien Forest possessed a diverse fauna and flora system with 776 species of plants and 409 species of animals, in which 30 species of rare plants and 61 species of rare animals listed in the Vietnam Red Book.

Once having done with the expedition, visitors can enjoy local specialties at the homestay like roasted duck and pork with Clausena Indica leaves, grilled fish, roasted stone crabs, and boiled snails.
