Over 60 Health Providers Graduate from 9-month Rehabilitation Course

61 trainees from the 4 provinces of Kon Tum, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, and Quang Nam recently successfully completed the 9-month training course on Basic Occupational Therapy (OT) in Rehabilitation as part of the Inclusion Project 1 (Phase 2a) and Inclusion Project 2 (Phase 2b).
With a duration of 9 months (November 2023 - July 2024), the training course was delivered in 3 terms, each lasting 10-15 weeks.
Lecturers from Hai Duong Medical Technical University taught the course.
The teaching method combined online learning (theory lessons provided on Zoom) and in-person clinical practice at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital and Thua Thien Hue Provincial Rehabilitation Hospital.
The curriculum included OT planning and intervention, OT application for acquired brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, surgery, pediatrics, autism spectrum disorder, assistive devices and orthopedics.

Earlier, in May, 34 health workers from Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, and Kon Tum also successfully completed the 9-month course on Physical Therapy (PT) specialized technique provided at Da Nang University of Medical Technology and Pharmacy.
Conducted as part of the Inclusion 1 project - phase 2a and Inclusion 2 project - phase 2b, the 9-month course comprised 13 modules including overview of Rehabilitation Medicine, Functional Anatomy, Musculoskeletal Function Assessment, kinesiotherapy, internal PT, external PT, Pediatric Physical Therapy, professional working skills, inter-disciplinary coordination skills, clinical practice.
This comprehensive curriculum ensures that graduates possess the knowledge and skills necessary to provide safe, effective, and evidence-based physical therapy services across a variety of healthcare settings.
The Inclusion 1 Project - phase 2a and Inclusion 2 Project – phase 2b conducted in Quang Tri, Thua Thien - Hue, Quang Nam, Kon Tum and Binh Dinh, funded by the United States Agency for International Development, owned by the National Action Center for Toxic Chemicals and Environmental Treatment (NACCET), managed by the Center for Creative Initiatives in Health and Population.
The Medical Committee Netherlands - Vietnam (MCNV) is one of the implementing partners of the project, and directly implements the component of strengthening rehabilitation workforce.
