Speaking at the reception, Wei Ran emphasized Guangxi’s pioneering role in promoting people-to-people exchanges with Vietnam. He noted that Guangxi has established friendly relations with 23 provinces, cities, and districts in Vietnam, accounting for nearly one-third of the 65 sister-city/locality pairs between the two countries, and placing Guangxi at the forefront among Chinese localities in this regard.

Amid Vietnam’s ongoing administrative reorganization at various levels, he expressed hope that both sides would jointly seek appropriate solutions to ensure the continued and vigorous development of their cooperative relations.

Appreciating Guangxi’s goodwill and cooperative spirit, VUFO President Phan Anh Son affirmed that Vietnam’s restructuring of its administrative units would usher in a new, more comprehensive phase of development, thereby creating opportunities to elevate sister-city relationships.

He proposed enhancing flexible coordination through direct exchanges between localities, with support from VUFO or via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a bridge. Both sides agreed that maintaining and deepening the sister-city partnerships would continue to serve as a solid foundation for advancing the comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Guangxi in particular, and between Vietnam and China in general, in a more profound, substantive, and effective manner.
