Vietnam Won Six Medals at the 2023 International Junior Science Olympiad

According to the organizing committee, the silver medal was awarded to Hoang Pham Minh Khanh, a student of class 10G0 of Newton Secondary and High School.

5 bronze medals were awarded to Nguyen Tran Thao Nguyen, Hoang Ngoc Bach (grade 10 Chemistry 1), Mai Thanh Tung, Nguyen Trong Nghia (grade 10 Chemistry 2), Duong Dang Khoa (grade 10 Physics 2), who are all students at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the gifted.

Vietnam's achievements are highly appreciated among the total of 54 countries and territories participating in IJSO this year.

Previously, these 6 candidates passed the team selection round with the participation of 180 students.

IJSO is the most prestigious exam for students aged 15. The knowledge of the exam is comprehensive, integrating 3 natural science subjects including physics, chemistry, and biology. Candidates will take the exam in English with 3 tests: Multiple choice, theory (individual scoring), and practice (team scoring). Therefore, in addition to scientific knowledge and good English proficiency, candidates need to have Math knowledge, the ability to work in groups, and many other skills.

IJSO 2023 was held in Thailand from December 1 to 10 with the participation of more than 300 students from 54 countries and territories. The organizing committee awarded a total of 182 medals, including 34 gold medals, 61 silver medals, and 87 bronze medals.
