Situated in the core area of Ha Long Bay, Cua Van village has long been a must-visit destination within this world heritage site.

Quang Ninh province’s Cua Van fishing village is ranked No 10 among the world’s 16 most beautiful coastal towns by US magazine Travel + Leisure, VOV reported.

“Located in Vietnam’s dramatic Halong Bay, with lush mountains as a backdrop, this little village is completely composed of floating homes”, the magazine said. In the village, about 700 people (traditionally fishermen) live on anchored houseboats. Friendly locals and romantic seascapes attract tourists to the village to see this unique way of life for themselves. Tourists can also join fishermen in fishing and rowing boats.

Also among Travel+ Leisure’s list are 15 world-famous attractions including Polperro (UK), Saint George's (Bermuda Islands), Manarola (Italy), Camden (Maine, USA), Kotor (Montenegro), Lunenburg (Canada), Sidi Bou Said (Tunisia), Cadaqués (Spain), Ilulissat (Greenland), Oia (Greece), Paternoster (South Africa), Rovinj (Croatia), Reine (Norway), Port Fairy (Australia) and Sausalito (California, USA).

There, visitors can gaze at the beautiful limestone karsts and isles of Ha Long Bay, take photos of the floating village with its colourful raft houses and witness first-hand the daily lives of local fishermen.

According to Quang Ninh newspaper, Cua Van is the largest of all the floating fishing villages along the islets of Ha Long Bay with over 170 houses roped together. The backyard view of emerald water and jutting limestone karsts is really marvelous.

In addition to breathtaking scenery, the village has left distinct impressions visitors due to its long-held invaluable cultural values which contribute to creating and diversifying tourism products and services in Ha Long Bay.

Visiting this village, tourists will be amazed at the historical sites and the cobble stone streets; they will also immerse themselves in the quiet, peaceful and charming space, admire the charming natural scenery, enjoy the love songs or manually doing the work associated with the lives of local people.

Cua Van was listed the world’s 16 most beautiful villages by Journeyetc.com, a travel advisory website in 2019 and in 2015 it had been named the world’s most charming little town by the US online newspaper Huffington Post.
