On his trip to Ha Long Bay, German engineer Günter Mosler captured lasting images of the amazing scenery Vietnam has to offer and plenty of photographs of food, friends, and fun times.

Expats and tourists visit Vietnam and leave with happy memories kept in photographs recording their time spent here. German engineer Günter Mosler is one of them.

On his trip to Ha Long Bay, this expat captured lasting images of the amazing scenery Vietnam has to offer and plenty of photographs of food, friends and fun times.

In 1973-1974, on his business trip in Vietnam, he captured his times with his family and friends spent in Ha Long Bay.

As a UNESCO heritage site, Ha Long Bay in the northern province of Quang Ninh is one of Vietnam's most popular tourist attractions.

The scene at Hon Gai ferry terminal through the lens of a German engineer appeared with a vintage yellow tone due to the sunny weather. In the Ha Long visit, the foreign couple spent time exploring the islands, the beach and communicating with the locals.

The villagers who wish to keep continuing their job on the sea are allowed to come back. Some work on aquaculture farm and others provide service for tourists. Traditional floating houses still remain as a cultural site for visitors.

Ha Long Bay harbors natural phenomena, divine mythical legend, hence the fishermen in this area has formed many fishing rituals to make sure their work go smoothly.

The seascape that features jade green emerald waters and limestone towers is actually over 500 million years old. The bay is sculptured by tectonic movement, not volcanic activity as many have been mistaken.

Ha Long Bay has gained lots of awards and recognition for its outstanding values. In 1962 the ministry of National sports, culture of and tourism Vietnam designated Ha Long Bay as Renowned National Landscape Monument. In 2011, World Monument Funds included Ha Long Bay in its list of 2012 Worlds Monument Watch. In 1994, UNESCO recognized Ha Long Bay as World Heritage Site as it “contains superlative natural phenomena or areas of exceptional natural beauty and aesthetic importance” (UNECSO).

In 2012, the second time Ha Long bay was listed as UNESCO World Heritage Site for its geological and geomorphological value.

Ha Long Bay is an outstanding example representing major stages of Earth’s history, including many tourists coming to Vietnam.
