According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, during the five-day National Day holiday from August 29 to September 2, the country’s tourism sector is estimated to have welcomed and served approximately 6.5 million tourist arrivals, an increase of 18.1% compared with the same period in 2025.

Vietnam topped the list of the world’s 10 most attractive culinary destinations for 2026, as voted by readers of The New Zealand Herald, surpassing countries renowned for their cuisine such as Italy, Japan, Thailand, and France.

On August 22, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued an official dispatch to the People’s Committees of Cao Bang, Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Son La, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa provinces and cities, requesting strengthened tourism management and measures to ensure tourist safety.

On the occasion of Vietnam’s National Day holiday on September 2, Vietnam National Railways officially launched the HQ1/HQ2 pair of heritage trains connecting Hue and Phong Nha under the theme “Journey to Wonders - World Heritage Sites.”
