Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Austria and Slovenia Nguyen Trung Kien reviewed Vietnam's economic, political, social situation and Vietnam-Slovenia relations in 2021.

2021 is a year with difficulties and challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and Vietnam suffers heavy impacts. Despite of such difficulties, Vietnam has become one of the world's bright spots in pandemic control and economic development.

Vietnam with a vaccination rate of more than 80% is one of the countries with a high vaccination rate in the world. From February 15, Vietnam has reopened normal flights, which is also an important service for overseas Vietnamese.

Vietnam's international and economic exchanges with the world in 2021 have also been seriously affected. Prices of Vietnamese goods exported to Europe, and to Slovenia particularly, rose due to increased service prices.

However, the trade turnover between Vietnam and Slovenia increased significantly, demonstrating the import and export demand between the two sides. In international forums, Vietnam has just successfully completed the 2-year term as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council 2020-2021.

Ambassador Nguyen Trung Kien appreciates the contribution of the Vietnamese community in Slovenia in strengthening community spirit in the Covid-19 prevention. The Ambassador appreciated that the community has joined with the Slovenian people to overcome all difficulties and challenges of the pandemic to stabilize their lives and recover the economy.

Kien said he would continue to support overseas Vietnamese people in Slovenia, for a better life, and improve the economic life of the community.

The Ambassador expressed his wish that the community would continue to strengthen the listening and support the differences in the community. To recognize and typical encourage individuals with contributions to the community in Slovenia and Vietnam, the Ambassador awarded certificates of merit to four individuals.

Franz Lu Quynh Huong spoke on behalf of the Vietnamese community in Slovenia to thank the Vietnamese embassies in Austria and Slovenia for their concern and support to the community.
