According to VNA, the Embassy of Vietnam in Laos on November 11 held in Vientiane a meeting to exchange views and collect feedback from Vietnamese expats on four draft documents to be submitted to the 13th National Party Congress slated for early 2021.

Addressing the event, Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung said the draft documents have been uploaded online for Vietnamese people living in Laos to review and comment. Additionally, they can give feedback and ideas for the documents via this face-to-face meeting, he added.

Vice Chairman of the association of Vietnamese people in Laos Pham Van Hung said he completely agrees with the draft documents, saying the Party and government have performed well the anti-corruption fight, which receives wide support from Vietnamese people both at home and overseas.

He urged better anti-corruption efforts in the coming time to win trust from the public and expected that the upcoming National Party Congress will elect qualified officials for the next tenure.

The draft documents have been developed with opinions of people from all walks of life and Party cells from the local to central levels taken into account, said Le Nho Thanh, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee in Laos.

All ideas and opinions collected in the meeting will be sent back home via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said.

Earlier, the Embassy of Vietnam in Canberra (Australia) on November 7 also organized a virtual seminar to gather feedbacks of Vietnamese expats living in the country about the draft documents.

Attendees included representatives from intellectuals, researchers, business leaders and students who enthusiastically expressed their opinions in various areas, such as economy, education, human resources development and sustainable development.

The published draft documents are the Political Report, a report on the implementation of the 2011-2020 socio-economic development strategy and the building of a socio-economic development strategy for 2021-2030, a report on evaluation of the socio-economic performance during 2016-2020 and directions and missions for socio-economic development during 2021-2025, and a report on Party building work and implementation of the Party statute during the 12th tenure.

Collecting public feedback aims to promote citizens’ right to mastery and pool ideas for the making of Party guidelines and policies on national development to 2025 with a vision to 2030 and 2045, while helping improve quality of the draft documents submitted to the 13th National Party Congress./.
