Vietnam donates 50,000 USD to help Mongolia in the fight against Covid-19

The Vietnamese Government has donated 50,000 USD to Mongolia to assist the country in responding to the Covid-19 pandemic.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Government, Doan Khanh Tam, Vietnamese Ambassador to Mongolia, on Monday handed over 50,000 USD to G.Ariunbuyan, chief of Mongolia’s National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and deputy head of Mongolia’s National Steering Committee on Covid-19 Prevention and Control.

G.Ariunbuyan sent sincere thankfulness to the Vietnamese Government and people for the donation, saying that the support will help the Mongolian Government and people respond effectively to the pandemic and protect public health.

He acknowledged positive development of the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Mongolia, especially fruitful outcomes in political, economic, trade and humanitarian cooperation.

He expressed his appreciation to the affection of the Vietnamese Government and people for the Government and people of Mongolia in the context that both countries still face a lot of difficulties in the fight against Covid-19 and post-pandemic recovery.

He committed that Mongolia will effectively make use of the donation granted by Vietnam. The donation will be spent on the procurement of medical protective equipment for frontline workers.

The Mongolian official praised Vietnam for effective measures to contain the pandemic and recover the economy, wishing Vietnam will be able to control the pandemic and stabilize the economy.

G.Ariunbuyan also recalled that a Memorandum of Cooperation was established between NEMA and Agriculture Ministry of Vietnam during the Second Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Reduction in 2018, while expressing commitment to continue pay attention on expanding cooperation between similar organizations of the two countries, Mongolian News Agency reported.

He said Vietnam was focusing all its resources on pandemic prevention and control and economic recovery.

Vietnam firmly believes that under the leadership of the Mongolian Government, the determination and consensus of authorities and all people, Mongolia will soon be able to contain the pandemic, recover the economy and continue to develop sustainably.

Mongolia has so far recorded more than 339,000 cases of Covid-19 and more than 1,500 deaths.

There are about 200 Vietnamese people living and studying in Mongolia. In August 2021, the Vietnamese community in Mongolia donated over 7,000 USD to support Vietnam’s Covid-19 prevention and control fund.

During a working visit to the US last month, Vietnamese President Nguyen Xuan Phuc had a bilateral talk with his Mongolian counterpart Ukhnaagin Khurelsukh.

Phuc affirmed Vietnam’s willing to coordinate with President Khurelsukh and the two countries’ ministries and sectors to find appropriate measures to further develop bilateral cooperation in more fields. He proposed both sides work together to create favourable conditions for the export of each country's products so as to achieve the goal of US$100 million in two-way trade, Vietnam News Agency reported.

They agreed to continue maintaining and promoting the exchange of delegations at all levels and meetings through different forms, increasing the role of the intergovernmental committee, stepping up cooperation between the two countries’ ministries and sectors, flexibly deploying existing bilateral dialogue and cooperation mechanisms, and strengthening people-to-people exchanges, thus facilitating collaboration in all fields.
