This year’s event brought together seven official delegations along with dozens of independent athletes, with a total of 376 registered participants. They were union members, students, and young people from 17 affiliated chapters and the Vietnamese community in the city, competing in a range of engaging sports such as volleyball, tug of war, women’s football, table tennis, badminton, relay running, and e-sports (Teamfight Tactics - TFT).

At the opening ceremony held on May 1 at the VSh MOP sports complex of Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University, the vibrant melodies of the performance “The Essence of Vietnam - Aspirations of Youth” ignited a lively atmosphere, taking the audience through waves of pride and emotion.

From decisive dance movements to radiant expressions, the performance told the story of a resilient, dynamic, confident Vietnam that is actively integrating into the international community.

Speaking at the ceremony, Party Secretary of the Saint Petersburg Party Committee subdivision, Do Duy Hung, emphasized the significance of the event and praised the efforts of the organizing committee.

According to Do Duy Hung, the Saint Petersburg Sports Festival is a traditional activity with profound meaning. It not only contributes to improving physical fitness and promoting the movement of following President Ho Chi Minh’s example, but also serves as a bridge connecting Vietnamese students living far from their homeland.
