Under the theme “Connecting Vietnamese intellectuals for national technological development and innovation,” the forum brought together professors, PhDs, experts, and business leaders from research institutes, universities, major technology corporations, as well as students living, working, and studying in Singapore.

Speaking at the forum, Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh expressed his appreciation for and high regard toward the initiative of bringing together overseas Vietnamese intellectuals in Singapore to capitalize on the country’s strengths in science, technology, and innovation.

According to the Ambassador, it is highly meaningful for overseas Vietnamese intellectuals in Singapore to share knowledge and collaborate with institutions in Vietnam in order to maximize the application of scientific and technological expertise. Forums such as this play an important and timely role in the current context.

Ta Thuy Lien, Head of the Liaison Committee of the Vietnamese Community in Singapore and representative of the Organizing Committee, emphasized that the 2026 forum carries a more demanding mission than a conventional seminar: building a practical cooperation model with demonstrable effectiveness.

“This forum must become a coordinate of action, where we move beyond networking to truly become co-creating partners alongside the country,” she affirmed.

The forum created a space for dialogue where participants were updated on trends and demands for attracting experts from domestic agencies, research institutes, universities, and businesses; attended discussions on transferring core technologies and addressing national challenges, with resources focused on strategic sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor and quantum technologies, biomedical technology, green materials and the circular economy, blockchain, among others; and discussed solutions for technological cooperation in these fields.

Sharing his views on the concept of sovereignty in promoting technological solutions, Professor Vu Minh Khuong from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore (NUS) noted that sovereignty must go hand in hand with deep global integration. According to the professor, Singapore’s experience shows that sovereignty is demonstrated through profound integration with the world.

He stressed that in the context of rapidly advancing cloud computing, AI, and technological infrastructure, pursuing development in isolation could lead to the risk of becoming disconnected. Therefore, countries need to integrate deeply into this ecosystem and become an indispensable component of it.

For participants, the forum was not only a venue for sharing academic stories and scientific projects, but also a bond connecting individuals across different fields, enabling each person to contribute knowledge, experience, and international connections to support Vietnam’s development.

Associate Professor Dr. Le Thi Nguyet Minh, Director of the Graduate Program in the Department of Pharmacology and Head of Drug Delivery at the Institute for Digital Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, under NUS, shared that after overcoming the initial challenges of integration, she devoted 10 years to her first major project aimed at contributing to Vietnam, by translating the book Molecular Cell Biology.

She said that at the time, her aspiration was to bring this knowledge to Vietnam, especially in a period when biotechnology had yet to develop strongly, even in Singapore.
